YASNA?

December 17, 2008

After being in the Silicon Valley for 8+ months now, it’s become apparent that absolutely everybody (and their [insert relative here]) has an idea/plan/website for a startup. That everybody (incl. myself) is so ambitious and enterprising is really exciting. On the flipside, all of these presentations/talks are starting to sound the same — 99.2% of said startup ideas I’ve heard involve building a better social network mousetrap (i.e. Facebook 2.0). Is this really the future, or are we running out of ideas???

Social networking needs something new, not just better if it is to be a new “killer app.”

My guess is the next big startup (whatever that means, hehe) will not be social networking as we know it (facebook, twitter, etc.).
